Medical Malpractice Insurance
It is a form of liability insurance that covers healthcare professionals from lawsuits related to professional negligence. This can include cases of misdiagnosis, surgical errors, premature discharge, and failure to properly check lab reports. If patients or their families believe that they have been harmed by these or other errors, they may file a compensation lawsuit against the medical practitioner.
A court of law may award the defendant damages in the form of monetary compensation for injuries, death, extra costs to repair the mistake, or for pain and emotional anguish incurred by the medical practitioner. These sums can be significant, and medical practitioners would be unable to bear them. Judicial and defence fees accrued as part of the litigation will also be compensated.
